BIO

Christopher Jay Davis, born in Boston, Massachusetts in 1987, is a contemporary painter currently living and working in Dorchester. Specializing in acrylic painting, Davis has developed a distinctive visual language that blends vibrant color palettes with intricate, maze-like line work. His pieces are immediately recognizable for their hypnotic geometric patterns and dynamic use of shapes, offering viewers a sense of both movement and meditation.

Davis's art is a meditative practice where he explores color relationships, time, and the history of art making. Strongly inspired by abstraction, surrealism, and psychedelic artists, he borrows historical artistic practices from creators he admires to infuse the present with his deep admiration for art history. His works nod to the atmospheric light of Claude Monet, the reductive techniques of Michelangelo, and the vibrant abstractions of Frank Stella. His signature line work echoes the spirit of street artist Keith Haring, while his complex color layering draws from the teachings of Josef Albers and the visionary intricacy of Alex Grey. Davis approaches each painting with the same patience and precision as monks creating mandalas, treating his studio practice as both a personal ritual and an homage to centuries of artistic exploration.

Davis received his Associates Degree in Music Engineering from the New England Institute of Art in 2009 and earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Massachusetts College of Art and Design in 2015. His creative journey has been deeply rooted in his Boston community, where he has completed numerous commissions and built a strong following through social media, particularly Instagram. His work has been featured in solo exhibitions at Kevin Day Gallery in 2016 ("Paracosm") and 2017 ("K.lazers"), both in Boston, as well as at Salon Eva Michelle in 2021 and Kent Newton Salon in 2023. In 2020 and 2024, Davis created 2 unique murals which can be seen at the queer restaurant space “dbar” in Dorchester, MA. With a growing number of collectors and supporters, Davis continues to evolve his practice, remaining committed to creating immersive, thoughtful works that resonate both visually and spiritually.
